Howe Montessori and Center Based Education

Message from the Principal

Greetings Howe School Families,

In the past month, we have all been faced with many adjustments as we deal with the effects of this global pandemic. Some may have been directly impacted by the virus and all of us have been affected by the efforts to slow the progress of it. Everything from our daily routines, livelihoods, and socialization has been impacted. During this difficult time, I continue to be inspired and amazed by the efforts and determination of our students, families, and our staff to keep our children happy, healthy and learning. Thank you for the tireless work you are doing. We miss you all and look forward to the communication we have with you through phone calls, emails, text messages, and through virtual hangouts or zoom sessions.

As we learned this past week, the governor has issued an executive order to extend the school building closure through the end of the school year. While this is sad and disappointing, we know that this is the responsible thing to do and is the safest for our school and community. The health and safety of our students is always our first priority. Despite the fact that the building is closed, our school year has not ended. As a district and at the building level, we are working hard to develop a long term plan to provide an education for our students. When we return from spring break on April 13, we will look forward to working together again with our students and families to see that our Howe students continue to receive an education while maintaining a personal connection with the school community. As we develop our plan, we are dedicated to make sure we provide a variety of opportunities to support our students’ social-emotional needs and to complete required academic learning for all our students. Details of our plan will be shared with you in the coming weeks.

Thank you for all your support through these challenging times. My thoughts are with all of you and your families. Please know that we are here for you if you need anything.
