Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year. I hope everyone is healthy and enjoying the remaining days of summer. Thank you to all who have participated in the Summer Reading Program. It has been a fun way to stay connected and I have enjoyed seeing all the activities posted on our Padlet.
We are looking forward to the new school year and wanted to pass along some information. Dearborn Public Schools will begin the school year completely remotely. Montessori students will receive instruction remotely each day between 8:55-3:50 and our special education programs will run from 8:15-2:55. There will be a combination of live virtual instruction and independent instruction each day. Attendance will be taken, and student work will be graded on the proficiency of learning standards. Students in the Montessori Program can expect live virtual instruction in the morning in ELA and Math between 8:50-11:45. The afternoon session will run from 12:25-3:50 and will include virtual learning labs and independently paced lessons in Science, Social, Studies, and electives. All classroom instruction will take place through our new Schoology Platform and Zoom.
All teachers will be receiving training on the Schoology platform next week. The first week of school is August 31-September 3. These will all be half days of school and will include small group or individual orientations for every family throughout the week. Your child’s teacher will work with you to schedule your child’s orientation which will include more detailed information about signing in to the platform, the daily schedule, necessary school supplies, and more.

September 7 – NO SCHOOL -Labor Day Holiday.
Chromebook Distribution:
If you need to borrow a Chromebook for your child please complete this Chromebook Reservation Form. Chromebook pick-up will be from 9-2 on Wednesday, August 26.
