October is AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) Awareness month! This is a great opportunity for us to reflect on the importance of communication accessibility for everyone, especially those who use AAC to express themselves.
AAC encompasses a wide range of tools and strategies that assist individuals in communicating more effectively. By raising awareness, we can foster a more inclusive environment for everyone, ensuring that all voices are heard. At Howe School we have many ways we support student communication through AAC.
Let’s work together to promote understanding and acceptance of AAC in our community. Your support and efforts make a meaningful difference in all of our students’ lives.
Together, let’s celebrate and advocate for communication accessibility!!! See below for pictures of some of the AAC devices our students use to communicate at school!
